What a great last week of the school year! Before we all head off to begin our vacations, we wanted to let you know of two important dates to put on your calendars for the new school year.
First, the District has moved What to Expect Night at the elementary schools much earlier. Please mark August 30 on your calendars to come and learn what is in store for your children for the 2012-13 academic year.
Second, we hope that you will all be able to attend the Welcome Back BBQ on September 9 from 4:00-6:00. This is always a great way to reconnect after the summer and share vacation stories.
If you are looking for ways to keep your children engaged and reading during the summer months, Susan Torres has provided the following links, along with a note to our community. We have all appreciated Susan's efforts and work with our children and wish her well on her retirement:
I’d like to thank all Westies for so many kindnesses over the years. The Library has been strongly supported by parent volunteers, Book Fair volunteers and the Birthday Book Club. Through this commitment the West School community has shown our children that a Library is a valuable place for learning, dreaming and exploring. I have done my best to share a love of reading with children. Though the world is changing rapidly, there will always be a need for the guidance and truth of a good story. Thank you for your help in giving a new generation the gift of a love of reading. Though I will be off adventuring in my retirement, I will be holding all of you in my heart.
